Married couple, Porsha and Keyana Brown, along with their father, Raymond Brown, decided to come together and open up a food truck. This food truck was Porsha's dream for over 15 years. All three of us are lover's of food and community.

We have been involved in the Hospitality/service industry for over a decade! During COVID a lot of restaurants and bars closed for a brief period time and some of them did not rehire their full time staff and management in order to try and save the expense on labor while there was great uncertainty in this world. Jobless with a ton of experience we decided to work odd jobs during the pandemic in order to save up enough money to open up our very own restaurant on wheels! We wanted to offer a menu that could cater to people of all ages and dietary restrictions to make sure we truly have something for everyone!
Come 2021 we made the trip from NJ down to VA in order to help start our business a little quicker, because at the time the mandates were a little looser and the abundance of opportunity in this area could not be surpassed. We wanted to incorporate our NJ culture and the type of sandwiches and cuisine we offer to the great people of the DMV area. We try to offer a creative menu to our customers that will hopefully having them coming back for more! Fresh and quality ingredients are our backbone and how we think we really differentiate ourselves from our competition!! Come try us out and get greasey!

Our mom one of the greatest Jamaican chef I know always wanted to open a Jamaican restaurant to share her gifted skill to people beyond our house hold. We went forward and persuaded that dream and open our first family restaurant in Suffolk va “the taste of Jamaica” after seeing the devastated impact Covid caused with the quarantine bad for business, my family and I decided we’d better reach more people by goin the mobile route instead of the original brick and mortar and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. Had the opportunity to serve many hungry customers in many different places near and far as our name and food still hold its value we take on the name “thee original taste of Jamaica 🇯🇲 “ stop by and check us out , you won’t regret it , “ Thee Original Taste of Jamaica” always leaves you wanting More 😉 be bless .
